NAFEMS ASSESS InitiativeThe integration of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with Engineering Simulation is transforming the way complex systems and products are designed, analyzed, and optimized. MBSE provides a cohesive framework that enhances the integration of multidisciplinary design analysis and optimization (MDAO), facilitating seamless collaboration among diverse engineering disciplines. By using a unified system model, MBSE ensures that engineering models and simulations remain consistent across various tools and domains, enabling more effective trade studies and system optimization. This approach supports engineers to validate and verify system behaviour early in the design process, reducing the risk of costly late-stage changes. Additionally, MBSE enhances traceability by linking simulation outcomes directly to system requirements and design decisions, ensuring that all aspects of the design are well-documented and understood. The reusability of models and components across projects further streamlines the development process, while the ability to conduct comprehensive trade studies improves decision-making and accelerates time-to-market.

Ultimately, the synergy between MBSE and Engineering Simulation leads to more reliable, optimized, and efficient system designs, with enhanced collaboration and reduced development cycles across multiple engineering disciplines.
