Cascade Engineering takes the stress out of complex and critical structural engineering challenges. Our in-house team works alongside your project team to bring design solutions, analysis and optimisation to projects, driving them to successful certification, often realising time and cost-savings.

Over fifteen years we’ve worked on flagship programmes such as the Airbus A350XWB and A320neo, and supported companies such as GE Aviation, ASSystem/Expleo, BAE Systems, Pall Aerospace, Cobham and QinetiQ, bringing in resources and providing solutions when required. We take projects, either modifications or new designs, from concept, through detailed design, analysis and optimisation on to final certification.

Although we provide a full mechanical and structural design service, Finite Element Modelling is central to our design and analysis approach. We can create bespoke models or develop regions of existing models, ranging in size from a complete A350 wing to a small composite fairing. Our expertise ranges from static loading on vehicle load path models to complex dynamic response on fully representative contact simulations, for metallic, composite/sandwich panels, even rubbers. We use various proprietary packages including Altair Hyperworks and MSC Nastran, or possibly the package of your choice. We have an enthusiasm and understanding for complex mathematical models, applicable to many types of physical behaviour simulation.

Being able to create a simulation and run it is only the start of the task. Interpretation is where the real challenge lies. Models always have idealisations that don’t measure up in the real world. Knowing what to believe, when, only comes with experience, gained from working on a variety of programmes, performing many different types of analyses, over many years.
